Many 13-year-olds are preparing for high school. Not Alena Analeigh Wicker! She’s earning two college degrees in life sciences and was accepted early to medical school in May 2022. Alena is the youngest Black student ever to be accepted to medical school.
On top of that, two years ago Alena started an organization called Brown STEM Girl. Its goal is to increase opportunities for girls of color who are interested in careers in STEM: science, technology, engineering, and math.
Even with all her accomplishments, Alena says she’s just a normal kid!
